Zack

Zack on Link light rail
What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
My bike is a giant escape city.

Why do you ride?
I ride my bike because it's an easy way to get around, and as an added bonus gives me a bit of exercise.

Where do you ride?
Most of my bike riding happens commuting between the neighborhoods surrounding Lake Union.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
I can't really say what my best bike memory was, unfortunately.

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
Novara Buzz V
Trek 1500
Puch Mistral Century (converted to a pedal-electric hybrid)

Why do you ride?
To stay fit and save money on gas and/or parking. Riding a bike is like driving a convertible, you more closely experience the world you’re passing through, plus there are fitness benefits. It’s also easy to talk with pedestrians, other bicyclists, and convertible drivers.

Where do you ride?
Mostly as a bike/bus commuter, but also with my kids for fun.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
Riding with my kids over the Cascades, from Duvall on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail to Rattlesnake Lake, then the Iron Horse State Park trail through the Snoqualmie Tunnel to South Cle Elum, with an overnight campsite near Snoqualmie Pass. So many great encounters and so much to see along the way, plus such great memories for all of us!

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
My iron horse is a Gravity MTB.

Why do you ride?
For physical training to get fit, to cut down short distance drivings... There are too many of them.

Where do you ride?
From my house to transit center, from bus stops to my work.  Community trails around nearby parks on weekends.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
Enjoy the breeze and having a quiet moment of peace inside.

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
I have a Giant Aluxx 6000 XL.

Why do you ride?
When I first started using my bike as transportation it was because it was the fastest way for me to get around. I can get almost anywhere I need to go in 10 minutes. I have been relying on my bike as my only personal form of transportation for 3.5 years now and while it is still the fastest way for me to get around. I have grown to have a greater appreciation for riding. I love just jumping on my bike rain or shine, am or pm, bad mood or good, solo or with my girl and just letting the road take me/us where it will. I jump on my bike turn on my music and ride. Riding clears my head. Riding makes me feel free. You never know what kind of adventure might unfold.

Where do you ride?
I rarely have a set destination, I just jump on my bike and ride. So if you see me and you want to know where I go then jump on your bike and we'll ride.

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
I ride a 2015 Fuji Roubaix 1.0 LE and a 1979 Schwinn Varsity single speed conversion.

Why do you ride?
I ride for fun, for competition, and as a way to get around easily.

Where do you ride?
I ride my bike on the Burke-Gilman Trail and around Capitol Hill mostly, but go on group rides on the weekends.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
I haven't had anything really interesting happen while riding since moving up here.  Bombing down the hills around town is one of my favorite things when riding, since there aren't many good hills where i'm from in Arizona.

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
This is my 2015 Specialized Allez Comp, I am still on my first year with it!

Why do you ride?
I only began riding on the road last year and now I feel bike crazed! I feel like it is awesome to be further in touch with the community and environment around me on my bike. Nothing can beat a summer Seattle night with the easy breeze on your face.

Where do you ride?
Seattle is really crowded compared to the open roads of Southern Oregon. I like riding to everywhere and anywhere though. Still can’t decide if weaving through traffic or being the only one to be on a road in 30 mile radius is better.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
The first time I ever took my new bike out with a group that I did not know at all, I ran over a 3 inch drywall screw. I had nothing but water with me, so was really happy when the people around me just took over and showed me how to do everything. I had just met these people, but a simple connection of being on two wheels meant that I didn’t get stranded out in the countryside.

Josh

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
I ride a 1992 Bridgestone RB-2 with a whole bunch of modern modifications.

Why do you ride?
I ride because it keeps me sane! I have more fun on my bike than doing anything else, and it's gotten me into great shape!

Where do you ride?
I like to ride where there are big hills and aren't a ton of cars. Bainbridge Island, Cougar Mountain, and the Issaquah-Preston Trail are my favorites.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
I was climbing Cougar Mountain the other day (easily the hardest climb I've ever done), and as I was suffering in my dark little pain cave, I had a revelation. I gained an intuitive understanding of how - when any whole number is multiplied by an even number, the product MUST be even. For years I had been told this, and I knew it as fact, but on that day, on that incredibly challenging climb, I understood. I do some of my best thinking on a bike, even if I'm not consciously doing it.

Tristan

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
I ride a Kona Jake the Snake.

Why do you ride?
I ride because it gives me sense of freedom. I ride because I like it when my eyes water after a long descent. I ride because my dad rides.

Where do you ride?
I ride my bicycle wherever I can, but I prefer gravel roads.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
On first real “ride”, I discovered a passion for learning about my area through riding seldom traveled roads.

What brand and type of bicycle do you have?
I ride a Marin Urban 29er.

Why do you ride?
I ride because I sit down at work all day, and it's nice to get some exercise in.

Where do you ride?
I ride my bike on the streets of Seattle and Lynnwood.

What's the best thing that happened to you while riding?
The best thing that happened to me while riding my bike, is when I arrived at the Chinatown station on the bus, and I found out I had a flat tire. The bus driver offered me a ride past the end of the line, to about halfway to where I needed to be.
